Jim Pevitt
WHS Consultant – Executive Safety Services

With over eighteen years’ experience in the construction and heavy engineering industries specialising in managing Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) systems and project delivery, Jim has well established performance results and an excellent reputation for working with Senior Executive and Project line management teams for the delivery and management of key integrated WHS solutions including risk management, safety culture and leadership programs.

Jim specialises in end-to-end WHS systems management including the tailoring, implementation, training, and achieving accreditation of WHS systems to standards AS/NZS 4801:2001 OHSMS, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 for organisations requiring formal procedures to manage health and safety.

Jim’s experience includes working within the building, civil, rail, water, tunneling, communication, heavy engineering and power disciplines, and with organisation management and safety professionals teams. He understands the specific requirements those industries require to ensure effective health and safety performance and compliance. The key aspect of this involvement includes working directly with the management, superintendent, supervision, designers, engineers and Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQE) safety critical roles for the effective implementation of WHS systems.

Having extensive involvement in major project tendering, Jim understands Client, key stakeholder and WHS authority requirements and the need for an integrated approach to health and safety management where performance is measured by the effectiveness of the organisations WHS approach and where high order risk management activities contribute to that injury prevention.

With the ever increasing expectation that organisations now require with respect to effective WHS implementation and ‘no harm’ aspirations, coupled with higher standards expected by Client and customers, Jim’s ability to engage with organizational teams in a practical and ‘value add’ approach to get the most out of teams is well regarded within the industry.

Key to Jim’s approach is his ability to analyse organisations WHS performance and method of operations, determine key indicators where improvement is identified, and develop, in collaboration with the organisation team, key WHS strategies which are achievable and sustainable. This includes developing training and mentoring programs for team safety critical roles in order to maximise the effectiveness of the WHS strategies. Jim has worked effectively with organisation subcontractors and key suppliers in order that they perform to optimal standards in line with the organisation WHS systems and strategies.

Jim is passionate about achieving high WHS standards through a proactive and sound health and safety management approach.
